"Major Simon Moore-Wilton was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for his leadership of the Security Task Group, 2nd Reconstruction Task Force in Afghanistan during 2007. A personal friend of the artist, MAJ Moore-Wilton spent time with the artist studying French at the ADF School of Languages at RAAF Base WILLIAMS at Point Cook, Victoria. With his new skill, MAJ Moore-Wilton then undertook an exchange posting to the School of Infantry in Canada."

"This image was actually an experiment in painting on camouflaged canvas. Fortunately, the oil paint adhered nicely to the gesso applied beneath it and the effect was quite striking."
