COMMISSIONS
There are three different types of artwork
that can be requested;
| COMMISSIONED WORK
(to see some examples, click here) Commissioned work is any artwork that is
created 'from scratch'. This includes portraits of people or animals, individual
scenes of landscapes, buildings, machinery or abstract work. The artist will
work on commission and will take direction from the person requesting the
artwork. The work at right is of Brigadier John Caligari. For examples of other
commissioned work,

CUSTOMISED ARTWORK
(to see some examples, click here) With new technologies available, some
artwork may be created from digitally stored templates. This usually applies to
profiles of aircraft which can have adjustments made to them before the final
product gets printed such as this Kiowa featured at left. For example, a person may request a picture of a Black
Hawk helicopter but would like a particular aircraft and configuration. The
person may request a Black Hawk typical of those sent to Pakistan during
Operation Pakistan Assist to help with earthquake relief operations. These
aircraft had Australian flags painted on the engine cowlings, boxing kangaroos
on the pilots doors, ALQ-156 'Disco Ball' Infra Red jammer on the fuselage
rooves and had specific 'tail numbers'. These items can be digitally added to
the basic Black Hawk image to make it authentic to that operation. (See
the available works below, click here)

| CUSTOMISED COMMISSIONED ARTWORK
A unique gift for someone special or for
yourself. Usually a combination of an aircraft profile or profiles and a
portrait. It may also include other items such as extracts from logbooks. This
is especially poignant to commemorate a particular event like 'first solo' or
'1000th flight hour' or something similar. An example is the picture below where a picture of a Kiowa is included with a portrait
of MAJGEN Tony Fraser CSC and includes logbook extracts.

Below is a similar work for Warrant Officer Rod Cairns of 38
Squadron, RAAF. WOFF Cairns was a flight engineer on Caribou tactical
transport aircraft and amassed an incredible 6000 flight hours on the
type. This work was commissioned by his wife and includes his log book
extract showing his 6000th flight hour; the crests of 38 and 35
Squadrons which operated the Caribou and with which he served, as well
as a profile of a Caribou with tail number A4-195, the aircraft he flew
his milestone sortie.

SGT Holland,
recipient of the 3rd Brigade's Junior Leader's Award. An A4-sized pencil
portrait which is kept by the Brigade for posterity and high-quality
Giclee prints presented to the recipient including appropriate
embellishments such as corps badge and information on the individual as
shown here. This is also a great gift for graduates of ADFA/RMC/Kapooka/East
Sale/Creswell/Oakey/Point Cook, etc. A nice memento for the individual
or for mum and dad!
(Why not get mum and dad to get one for you for your graduation?) |

This top image shows a pencil portrait drawn in graphite
with a profile of a Black Hawk helicopter and a set of pilots wings.
The bottom image is a conte crayon image with a profile of a Chinook.
A unique and personal gift, perfect for mum and dad or perfect as a
memento of your service and one that can be passed down from generation
to generation.
Think about it; your grandkids have that on the wall and tell anyone
who's interested in hearing how their grandfather or grandmother used to
fly Black Hawks in the early part of the 21st Century!
The image shown below left is a version of TPR Parkinson of 2nd/14th LHR
QMI a painting of an
ASLAV crew member created in oil paint on canvas. A Giclee print has
been printed and with the image of the painting is a
profile of an ASLAV-25 as well as the insignia of 2nd/14th LHR. The great thing about Giclee prints is the
ability to incorporate various images into one new and unique image.
Below is detail from the painting. This type of portrait painting is
more in depth than the pencil portraits shown above. For more images of
